Your prescription cost depends on your NHS exemption status. Here’s a clear guide to help you pay the right amount

Free NHS Prescriptions

You may be entitled to free prescriptions if you meet certain NHS criteria.

  • Age 60 or over
  • Under 16 years of age
  • 16–18 and in full-time education
  • Pregnant or had a baby in the last 12 months
  • Have a valid medical exemption certificate
  • Receiving certain benefits
